Mara McFarland, LMT (Licensed Massage Therapist)  MD 6004

I'm a licensed massage therapist and an adjunct instructor of massage therapy at Anne Arundel Community College, where I teach Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and pathophysiology. Teaching lets me share what I know while I keep learning the work myself. Myofascial release is a particular area of interest.

Before this, I spent more than 29 years with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and retired in 2016 as a captain and paramedic. That career was rewarding, and it also showed me what long-term stress and physical demand do to a body. Years as a caregiver for loved ones with chronic illness, pain, and disabilities deepened that understanding.

Massage became part of my own self-care, which is why I trained at Anne Arundel Community College. I tailor each session to the person in front of me, using Swedish massage, deep tissue, myofascial release, and other approaches as needed. The goal is thoughtful, therapeutic work that eases tension and discomfort and gives you a chance to relax and restore.
